Several members of Team MSH will be donning their glad rags for the Grand Final Dinner that takes place on the 27th June 2013 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden.

Having submitted an entry into the category ‘Training and Development’ we have been shortlisted are in the running for this prestigious award against just one other company.

Our entry highlighted the work we have done as an organisation in supporting the development of skills and training with our staff members, including in the last year helping one of our apprentices complete his NVQ in Business Administration and one of our volunteers secure employment after a period of extended unemployment.

So, fingers crossed, it would be a great boost for our team if we were to win!”

Juniper berries are best known as the main ingredient of gin, but they also have a number of therapeutics properties. When not found mixed in a glass of tonic, juniper can have a number of beneficial effects.

It is known to be diuretic and is traditionally considered to be worthwhile remedy for bladder problems. It helps to enhance glomerular filtration, meaning that increased amount of potassium, sodium and chlorine are excreted.

Cream of aloe and Propolis (body Cream)

Indications:

Stone Therapy 

Stone massage is traditionally a full body treatment which can be performed dry, or with the use of products. The stones can be used generally, or specific parts of the body in isolation. This is a treatment that can be combined into other treatments such as manicures, pedicures, facials, Indian Head Massage or remedial massage.

Stone massage can be performed dry or with oils, however, therapists can generally find that the use of oil can help the stones to retain their heat, as well as affecting the pressure and manipulation of the movements.

Natural vegetable oils should be used as a base, with essential oils incorporated into this. Organic oils can be partially absorbed  into the skin and condition it, as well as providing lubrication.

Bare Essential

Basil oil is good for treating conditions such as gout, insomnia, migraines, vertigo, chest infections, indigestion and tired muscles.

The oil is thought to help those of a nervous disposition as it is thought to clear the head, and so its uplifting effects can be used to treat clients suffering with anxiety .

If you are trying to stop drinking, start by cutting down bit by bit. Home alone and fancy that bottle of Pinot in the fridge with your dinner. Stop. Drink some water with your dinner; it is the best liquid to keep you hydrated which does your whole body a world of good and if you are a big weekend drinker it will give your liver time to regenerate and be ready for the next party.

Out with friends and thinking to buy the second round of the night, don’t get ahead of yourself. For one you will be saving a hell of a lot of money and you won’t be drinking as much. If you are used to having 4 pints in the local pub after work, drink more slowly and have only 3.

These small steps will help you on your way to stop drinking.

If you are trying to stop smoking, have one less cigarette every week. Slowly weaning yourself off it without stopping it all together, as I know from experience this is a massive task to undertake.

Encourage your partner, friends or colleagues to do it with you. This reduces the amount of prompts you have throughout the day by those who smoke around you. It has also been proven that with support from others you can really help stop you smoking.

Trying to eat less junk food and start to eat healthier foods? Start by having one extra portion of healthy food every day: a selection of fruit; a salad; complex carbohydrates. This will start your body off to adjust to new foods being introduced to your diet. It won’t be such a shock to your routine or body.

Smile – please make this your new year’s resolutions if it already isn’t! Smile at passer bys in the street, not only will it make you feel better but you will be brightening somebody else’s day. It has been proven that even if it is a fake smile the movement of the muscles that you need to smile triggers serotonin (happy hormone) levels to increase, reducing stress levels and making you feel more confident. Try it and see how much better you feel for it.
